At the US State Department, meeting with Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Frank Garcia, President Trump’s Senior Adviser for African and Arab Affairs Massad Boulos, and US Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz. The delegation stressed that Sudan’s war has created a deepening humanitarian catastrophe, threatening both the country’s survival and regional security.
It thanked President Trump and his administration for their efforts to end the war and facilitate humanitarian assistance, welcoming the State Department’s position that neither warring party has legitimacy and that an unconditional humanitarian truce is the essential first step towards peace. Garcia reaffirmed continued diplomatic efforts with Quad partners, including broader sanctions if necessary. Boulos welcomed the recent Quad–Quintet meeting and its contribution to closer coordination with partners, including the United Kingdom, Norway, Switzerland and Qatar.
Waltz pledged to work with Security Council members to secure a resolution extending the arms embargo across Sudan, with stronger monitoring and enforcement. He also reiterated President Trump’s instructions to pursue every possible effort to end the war and atrocities committed against civilians by both sides. Washington, Monday, 28 September 2026
